Abstract:
Is there a level of employee ownership that correlates best with future manager performance? A number of noted endowments have a stated policy to invest only with managers where employees own 100% of the management company in the belief that only complete ownership can maximize and align the incentives of managers and their investors –implicitly leading to superior performance. A quick examination of this supposition shows it to be flawed.
